What is convert-ixbrl.co.uk?
convert-ixbrl.co.uk enables you to search for and download iXBRL financial data submitted to Companies House in Excel or JSON format. You can either use the online search portal or access the data programmatically. You can look up companies by location, turnover, net assets or liabilities, and more.
How much data is available?
Convert-IXBRL provides financial data for over 3.5 million UK companies, alongside basic non-financial information for all companies. The financial dataset covers around 80% of filings (those submitted in iXBRL or XBRL format). Companies that only file accounts in PDF will have PDF account support added in due course.
How often is the data updated?
The data is updated every night. That covers financial data from newly filed accounts, and non-financial data such as company name, address, SIC codes, and due dates for accounts and confirmation statement (CS01) filings.
Are there free company rankings and statistics?
Yes. The company rankings list UK companies by reported turnover, number of employees, net assets and growth, for individual cities and for the whole UK. The company statistics pages show how many companies there are in an industry and place, with their size, age and typical figures.
Both are free, need no registration and come with a CSV download. Every figure is taken from accounts filed at Companies House; see how the figures are produced.
How do I use the online search portal?
Enter a company name, location, turnover or other criteria in the search portal and it returns the matching companies. You can then download the data in Excel or JSON format.
Can I automate the data retrieval process?
Yes, you can access the data programmatically through the REST API. The API documentation explains how to integrate it into your workflow, and a free test key is available.
Can I request custom data sets or features?
Yes. If you have specific data needs that go beyond the standard searches, custom data sets can be provided. Just drop us a message.
